About Kids Bike Co & the ByK Kids Bike Design

The ByK [prounounced 'bi-kay'] Bike was born from one father's desire to build a bike that was made specifically for children.  One that was suitable for a child's growing body and differing proportions to that of an adult.  Warren Key has owned bicycle stores his whole life and knows a thing or two about bike design.

He has a 8, 6 and 2 year old and realised early on that there were no well designed bikes on the market for children, anywhere in the world.  After a few years of research, design and prototypes, the ByK Bike is now available for Australian children to own.

In Warren's own words...

"Sometimes it’s the obvious things that get neglected.

Even though I have been surrounded by bikes for over 25 years, it wasn’t until I needed to help my son that the penny dropped; kids bikes were clearly lagging in design. The idea of an easier to ride kids bike pushed me. I knew there was a need in the market and more importantly my own children, especially one, needed it too.

So the journey began. It was natural to expect some resistance, but in reality I have been overwhelmed that all of my industry peers and friends agree my design is better. It simply makes sense.

With the ergonomic design, the bikes fit the rider better in all the right places for all the right reasons. Never before have children had a better chance to learn to ride and love to ride.

The key elements that make the ByK Bike so different is that I have lowered the weight of the bike and the rider deeper into the wheels. This makes the centre of gravity lower and the rider more stable. At the same time I have reduced rolling resistance and the overall weight to improve control.

My ByK bikes are safer. Safer than any other kids bike I know of anywhere in the world. It is enough for me to know that I have really helped my own children, but I am really happy to think that I can help other kids too and just may change the way kids bikes are designed forever."
