Gift coaxes schoolkids back to bikes
Tuesday, 09 March 2010 00:00

Recently a gift of Byk Kids Bikes was given to a New Zealand school in an effort to coax kids back into riding.  It coincides with the Prime Minister John Key's 'Bikes in the School' initiative, which aims to give every primary school pupil access to a bicycle and track.

62 Byk Kids Bikes were given to a local school, a gift totalling about $75,000 which includes helmets, bike tracks, a bike shed and an elite cyclist to coach the youngets.  The gift was given by Paul McArdle, a Hastings man, who had lived and worked in Amsterdam and was astonished to see so few children riding bicycles in New Zealand.
