The Kids Bike Company Launches New Ergonomic Bike Range in Time for Christmas

For Immediate Release
2nd December 2010

The Kids Bike Company, designer and manufacturer of ByK bikes - the original ergonomic bike just for kids - has released a new range of bikes for toddlers to teens in time for Christmas 2010.

The ByK (pronounced: "by kay") bike range is ergonomically designed to meet the changing needs of kids as their motor skills, strength and coordination improves. Unlike traditional kids bikes all ByK bikes have innovative ultra-lightweight frames, with a low centre of gravity and low-resistant, taller wheels. These unique features make taking off, balancing, gaining speed and braking easier and safer. Riders are positioned closer to the ground and can get up to balance-speed much faster than on traditional kids' bikes. They enjoy greater stability and control and a more efficient ride. The signature simple all-white design, featuring splashes of primary colours, appeals to both kids and parents.

For toddlers and pre-schoolers, the new ByK Learner Bike is designed to make learning to ride easier without the need for training wheels. It has no pedals, is suitable for children as young as two years old and is preferable to the traditional trike.

For the six-to-nine year olds, who are honing their riding skills, the newly released seven-geared bike weighing only 10 kg is a safe yet cool choice for Christmas. The next step up is the first ByK geared bike, a sixteen-geared model for kids aged eight to thirteen weighing just 11 kg. Several unique design features make this urban commuter bike the ultimate Christmas gift for active "tweens".

The new ultra-light TeamraceR™ for kids aged four to thirteen is the lightest kids bike on the market. Considered to be the ultimate kids bike for budding Tour de France riders, it features single speed simplicity, minimum road drag and superior handling.

Warren Key, founder of The Kids Bike Company, designed his first bikes to meet the needs of his three young children. "My kids found traditional kids bikes heavy and difficult to manoeuvre. They lacked the strength to get the bike going and they toppled easily at slow speeds because the bikes were so heavy. It affected their confidence and they gave up. ByK bikes are lighter, safer and easier to ride so kids can master the art of riding much faster and with greater confidence. We put the fun back into learning to ride", he said.

Established in 2007, The Kids Bike Company is an Australian-owned company specialising in ergonomic bikes just for kids. ByK bikes are sold in leading bike stores throughout Australia and New Zealand. From January 2011 ByK bikes will be available in Japan.
